- Where does Secrets For Hair ™ get hair from?
Secrets for Hair™ attaches great importance to the choice of its hair. You can choose from the two different hair qualities:
- Premium and Standard types of hair
The luxurious Premium quality is raw hair in all natural colors ranging from blonde to dark brown, which come from all over the world. Trained representatives select and collect this hair according to highest quality standards.
This hair has to be virgin hair (neither colored nor chemically treated) and it can’t be damaged in any way. After it has been collected, the raw hair is hand-selected and hand-sorted, hair by hair, in an elaborate and labor-intensive process. This process of hand-selection takes about 8 days for an average hair extension.
Altogether, Premium hair passes through a very complex 13-step process.

This enormous effort is so that the color of the hair only has to be changed slightly in order to match the natural hair spectrum. The refinement process puts such minimal chemical strain on it that one can really almost speak of virgin hair.
- Premium is the absolute indulgence in hair extensions because it has not been chemically lightened and therefore has retained its perfectly elastic surface. For you, the client, it is important that Secrets for Hair™ Premium Hair can be re-used for up to one year depending on hair style and daily care.
- Standard is a very good hair quality. This hair is made from black human hair, which comes from all over the world.
This black hair is not collected by Secrets for Hair™ representatives, but purchased from wholesalers. Therefore this hair has to be re-arranged, so that that all hairs point in the same direction (root and end). After that the black hair is gently lightened in a time-consuming osmosis process, and then colored to match the different colors of the natural hair spectrum. This hair is suitable for a wearing period of 4 to 6 months.
- Do I have to wait for my Hair Extensions?
After the consultation with your stylist, the strands are selected exactly according to your desired hair style, your own hair color or your desired color, and your hair structure. Our Secrets for Hair™ stylists have a large selection of strands in their salon and are able to apply your extensions immediately after your consultation. If salon does not have any hair in stock, it can order and receive it within 2-3 business days.
- How do Hair Extensions work?
These strands have a connection tip, a so-called “lock”, at the top. This lock gently connects the Secrets for Hair™ strands to your own hair close to the root. We use a micro lock system, and the micro lock is inserted over your natural hair strand and the extension is placed up inside the micro lock. Then, we apply pressure to close the micro lock around both the extension and your own natural hair, causing no damage at all!
- How long does the application of the strands take?
This question can’t be answered across-the-board. For starters, the time it will take depends on your desired hair style. A compact hair extension requires many more strands than for just hair thickening. If you would like partial extensions, e.g. bangs, only, then the process is even faster. First and foremost the time needed depends on the number of strands that need to be applied.
- How much do hair extensions cost?
We can not give you a universally valid answer to this question for several reasons:
First off it is important to know what hairstyle you would like, and what your own hair looks like. With this information your Stylist can decide on how many strands, what length, what structure and what hair quality (Premium or Standard) is to be used for your individual desired hairstyle.
- Do hair extensions look natural? Are they visible?
Secrets for Hair™ hair extensions look completely natural and are not noticeable to people who don’t know that you are wearing them. Your COCO 10 Salon stylist matches the strands to your own hair’s structure and color, and correct placement of the strands ensures a perfect result.
However, a certified, Secrets for Hair™ stylist will not agree to do hair extensions if he/she thinks that he/she will not be able to achieve a natural-looking result.
An example is if you have a short hair cut and you would like to have very long hair extensions. In this case it will probably not be possible to create a flowing transition between your own hair and the hair extensions. Your stylist will bring this to your attention and explain to you what she can do instead, and what the result will look like.
If you would like a Premium color shade, which is not part of the Color Ring, then your COCO 10 Salon stylist can have the desired color custom-made by Secrets for Hair™, or they can color the strands themselves in the salon.
- Will I feel the Hair Extensions?
Yes. All Secrets for Hair™ locks are very small and therefore hardly noticeable. The diversity of available locks allows for a perfect fit of your strands on your own hair.
All locks are about the same length of 1/8 inch or smaller and are simply of different widths depending on strand size.
- How are the strands removed?
Your stylist uses our Secrets for Hair™ Micro Locks, so removing the strands is a snap.
We use a special tool to open the crimped Micro Locks and adjust the strands as is necessary monthly.
We recommend a clean-up trim to your hair every four to six weeks in order to ensure quick and easy removal.
During this service your own hair, which has naturally shed but is stuck in the lock, is cut at the top in order to avoid matting.
Your Stylist will charge her normal hourly rate for both the clean up cut and the removal of the strands.
It is best if you clarify those details before you get your hair extensions.
- How long do hair extensions last?
The wearing period of Secrets for Hair™ hair extensions depend on your individual hair growth, the structure and volume of your own hair and your desired hairstyle.
The locks slowly move away from your scalp along with your natural hair growth. Therefore the locks will be more visible after about four to six months, and should be adjusted.
If you have decided on Premium Quality, then you can re-use the hair for up to a two years or so.
Of course, Secrets for Hair™ Premium Hair can be re-used. Only Secrets for Hair™ Premium Hair is so healthy that it can be worn for several wearing periods without a problem.
- Do I have any limitations when wearing hair extensions?
You don’t have to limit your lifestyle in any way. Thanks to the secure locks and the excellent quality of Secrets for Hair™ hair, you can pursue all your hobbies and activities as usual.
Long hair always requires more care than short hair, and this is true for Secrets for Hair™ hair as well.
If for example you do vigorous exercise on a regular basis and thus have to wash your hair more often, then you have to take extremely good care of your hair in order to enjoy the Secrets for Hair™ quality for a long time.
- Are hair extensions hard to take care of?
You need to take care of your Secrets for Hair™ hair as you would of your own long hair.
We use haircare lines which are specially formulated and sulfate-free to meet the needs of human hair extensions. Your Secrets for Hair™ hair is not connected to your scalp and therefore not automatically supplied with natural conditioning substances.
The hair care products target this natural deficiency and balance it. When used regularly your hair will retain its beautiful shine, optimal elasticity and deep color.
- Can I style and color the hair as usual?
You can style your hair as usual using your blow dryer, flat iron or curling iron. The same is true for other processes such as color.
Having hair extensions does not mean that you are stuck with one particular hairstyle. However, chemical processes like coloring, tinting or perming can drastically change the surface of the hair, thus stressing it.
You should only let authorized Secrets for Hair™ stylists perform such services in order to get the most out of your hair.
Brush your hair several times a day from roots to ends using our special Secrets for Hair™ looped brush in order to prevent tangles.
When blow drying, be careful not to set the blow dryer too hot, and to keep it at a distance of at least 8 inches from the hair. Extreme heat will damage or dry out your Secrets for Hair™ hair.
Beauty Sleep: Tie your hair or put it in a braid and satin pillow case before you go to sleep. This is how you avoid tangles in your Secrets for Hair™ hair.
- Does my hair have to be a certain length to get hair extensions?
With Secrets for Hair™ hair extensions, reasonably full hair with a minimum length of 4-6 inches is enough for the locks to be invisible and for the Secrets for Hair™ strands to naturally blend with your own hair.
- Can I get hair extensions if I already suffer from heavy hair loss?
Since heavy hair loss is often caused by medication or hormonal imbalances, the hair loss has to be stopped before Secrets for Hair™ strands can be applied. Otherwise we can not guarantee the hold of the strands.
- Are hair extensions damaging to my own hair?
Hair extensions are very gentle when usingsilicone lined Micro Locks and do not involve chemicals, which ensures that your own hair will not be damaged.
The various strand sizes make it possible to customize hair extensions for your individual hair type. Furthermore, your own hair is protected by the Secrets for Hair™ strands, because the Secrets for Hair™ strands enclose your own hair.
Regular follow-up service is a crucial requirement for the perfect condition of your hair. This includes check-up service, clean-up cuts etc. at your Secrets for Hair™ salon.
A sulfate-free haircare line, which is specially formulated for our hair extensions, is very beneficial for your own hair as well.
- Will hair extensions make my own hair fall out?
Secrets for Hair™ emphasizes the protection of your own hair. Therefore your hair stylist is careful that your Secrets for Hair™ strands are matched to the same amount of your own hair.
With the help of our special techniques your Secrets for Hair™ extensions can be optimally customized for you. The only way you may experience hair loss is if your hair is strained because these guidelines were not followed.
